How soon did you or do you plan to take maternity leave before your due date??? I was planning leaving at 38 weeks but as I get closer to my due date I think I am want to leave earlier. I just was wondering more or less when the average mommy to be left work???
BTW: my job is physically pretty easy. I'm in front of a computer screen 8-10 hours a day but very stressful at times, especially end of month and beginning of month.Working Mommies %26amp; Mommies to be: How early did you take your maternity leave?
I worked in a call centre.. and honestly I was due the 31st and i was going to work until the 24th ( friday right before i was due ) unfort. for me i had medical problems? ( Gall bladder attacks ) where I was in and out of th hospital for a week at a time.. so i had to leave two months early. My mother on the other hand with my little sister.. she worked literally until she went into labour. So really it all varies on the person / work type.. how YOU feel.. but I would suggest work as long as possible.. because you WILL go out of your mind waiting on that wee baby :)Working Mommies %26amp; Mommies to be: How early did you take your maternity leave?
I worked right up until I gave birth at 38 weeks.
I'm starting maternity leave at 37 weeks...that will give me enough time to get things ready and just relax...plus I imagine that I will be huge and uncomfortable by then.
I was being induced on a monday, with my first, and I stopped working 3 days prior when I was just shy of 41 weeks.

I plan on working up until I go into labor, or until my due date. Lucky for me, I am due around the end of Sept and on a Friday. It will depend on how I feel. I also work a computer job, so it is relatively low stress.
It all depends on what type of job you work, how much your boss is willing to allow you to take, and how you feel. The pregnancy may go faster for you if you keep yourself occupied with work. Unless you have a lot to do to prepare for the baby's arrival, I say work as long as you can just to kill time. :) Good luck and congrats!!!
I worked right up until I had my baby. Well, the Friday before--she was born Sunday night. My employer does not start maternity leave until mom has the baby. If the doctor orders bedrest or that she should not be working, then she is considered on Medical Leave, which is separate from maternity convalescence leave. If the mom wants to take time off before the baby is born, it comes out of her personal leave (vacation) time, but unlike some civilian employers, does not count against the postpartum maternity leave. Check with your employer on their policy. Remember, any leave you take may count against you after the baby is born--ex. you get 8 weeks and say you take your leave at 37 weeks and your baby isn't born until 42 weeks--well, you are having to leave your 3 week old to go back to work unless you can cobble together more vacation time. Is your husband going to be able to take time off? One idea, if you can, is that you all spend a week or so together, then he delay taking his ';real'; leave until you go back to work to push back having to leave the baby with a sitter.
