How do i transfer my videos on computer to dvd?

I have lots of videos on my computer that i've been trying to transfer to dvd but don't know how.I have some blank dvds and i bought a burner cd,that i just saved and run on my computer.I followed what it said to do but then it says 'no burner detected'.So were do i get a burner from? I don't understand this technical stuff.How do i transfer my videos on computer to dvd?

the way i do this is to get the dvd in avi Formatand then get the software called Nero sstart smartthen just burn your disc..
