How can I make a Web Site?

My boss owns this restaurant and they contract someone to do the website right now, but it really is not that good. I am pretty good with the computer and think that I am capable to figure out how to make a new web site, but just need to know where to go to start. I also would like to know how to put it out there, like when people search for restaurants in search engines how I can make this web site show up if that is possible. Any advice would help thanks in advance! How can I make a Web Site?
If you don't know anything about HTML or Dreamweaver then you'll need something really simple like weebly.com. It's got basic layouts you can customize and add to. It's free if you don't mind your website being whatever.weebly.com. You can upgrade to your own domain for a price. How can I make a Web Site?
For a commercial site (that is, for one that's for a business, not for your hobby), you're going to have to learn how websites work, HTML, CSS and, if you want the site to do anything but sit there like a photograph, Javascript (which means learning programming) and possibly PHP and SQL.

Tell your boss that the most cost-effective way to do this is for him to send you to classes to learn all that you need to know. Doing it on your own could take 6 months to a year, and you'd still be missing a lot of things that you won't find in books or tutorials. It costs a LOT for a good class, but it costs a lot more if you do it wrong. (One lawsuit, because you didn't know what you were doing, could more than wipe the restaurant out financially.)

It's really a lot cheaper to just find a competent web developer. Find a restaurant site that looks good and that has a little link to the developer's site (or email address) - they're usually down at the bottom. Contact the developer. Or ask at the local high school. You'd be surprised by how good some kids are at developing websites.

Pretty great on your part to try your hands on it, but as the person above said it'll take you around 6 months to a year to be perfect at it. Hire a web Developer or probably try buying a template online and then further develop it with dream weaver and other DTP software's. To put it out there you'd be in need of a URL and a web host, i.e. the web space. Good luck for it.

Here is where you can learn to do it your self..
