my computer has built in speakers on it but they arent working. i had my friend fix it last time and he said he went to the sound defragment but i have no clue how to get there, i have windows xp if that helps any. thanxHow do i get to the sound defragment on my computer?
There is no such thing a sound defragment. If you are having troubles with your sound then here is what you need to check out.
Speaker are plugged in and on
Go to the start menu and then control panel and check the sound settings
if you are still not getting any sound then right click the ';Computer'; icon and click ';manage'; then on the left hand side go to device manager ( this can also be got to from the control panel).
In device manager check the sound, video, and game controllers tab and check for your speaker to be sure they are installed correctly.
Also I am curious as to where these speakers are installed at, I have never seen a computer tower that came with speakers in it. They used to put them in monitors but not any more as far as I know. The only speaker that should be in your computer is a little one on the motherboard for boot sound. Unless you are using a laptop, in which case just make sure they are installed right using the install disk.
